The foundation of Summer Creek Dentistry is the families who entrust their dental care to Dr. Jasmine Coleman King and her staff in Fort Worth. We will always do our best to help you and all the members of your family have healthy and beautiful smiles. With this in mind, we make general and preventive dentistry a priority, because if we can prevent dental problems from happening, then we can help you avoid bigger problems—and probably bigger expenses—in the future.
Preventive Dental Care for Adults & Children
Everyone in your family needs general and preventive care, so Dr. Coleman King is happy to see the adults and children in your family. In keeping with the recommendation of the American Dental Association, we’d like to see you and your family members for regular dental checkups every six months. This way, we can monitor your dental health closely and react quickly if there is a problem. At these checkups we’ll clean your teeth and remove any plaque buildup; we’ll examine your teeth for signs of decay and your gums for signs of periodontal disease (and yes, children can have gum disease, too); and when necessary, we’ll take digital x-rays to find any hidden spots of decay or infection below the gum line.
Other issues we commonly look for during a dental exam include TMJ dysfunction, teeth grinding, and even oral cancer. Diagnosing and treating common oral health problems early is an important part of preserving and maintaining good oral health.
If we find anything during your appointment, we’ll talk to you about your treatment options. With our commitment to personalized care, we’ll also answer your questions about the plan we recommended. In addition to knowing what to expect when you come in for care, we want you to understand exactly how it’s going to help you. That means talking to you about your needs.
As part of your visit, we’ll also talk to you about caring for your smile in between visits. Brushing and flossing are your best defense against poor oral health, but they’re not the only tools at your disposal. An antibacterial or fluoride mouthwash will give your smile extra protection. Eating a more nutritious diet will also help you safeguard your health and lead to better overall wellbeing, as well.
Proper Oral Health Helps Maintain Overall Well-Being
Besides helping you enjoy good oral health, checkups and cleanings can also help you support your general health. Research has linked gum disease with an increased risk of other health problems, including heart disease, stroke, Alzheimer’s, diabetes, and certain pregnancy complications. Seeing Dr. Coleman King twice a year will help us provide the essential dental care you need to enjoy better overall health.
