Are you diligent about visiting your dentist in Fort Worth every six months for a checkup and cleaning? If so, you’re on the right track towards being able to enjoy your natural, complete smile for the rest of your life. Although many patients don’t know it, these semi-annual appointments ward off life-threatening and smile-ruining problems that can wreak havoc on your quality of life. That’s why, at Summer Creek Dentistry, we place a heavy emphasis on making sure that our patients receive the highest quality of preventive dental care. That way, they don’t have to ever deal with serious oral health issues down the road.
Your dental checkup will be the first part of your appointment. If you haven’t received X-rays of your mouth within the last year, we’ll likely capture images so we can examine them to see if anything is developing beneath the surface of your gums. We’ll also conduct a visual examination of your teeth and gums in search of common signs of dental decay and gum disease, like gum inflammation. Many patients don’t notice, but during these visits, we do a thorough oral cancer screening as well.
If we find any signs of oral health problems from our checkup, we’ll discuss them with you. Before moving on to your cleaning, we’ll develop a treatment plan to make sure any cavities get filled and any other symptoms are addressed immediately so they don’t develop into more severe issues.
The last part of your semi-annual visit will be your dental cleaning. During this step, we’ll be using specially designed gadgets like our dental scaler, mirror, and polisher to reach the deepest crevices of your mouth that you can’t get to with a regular toothbrush. Tracing along your gumline, we’ll remove any sign of plaque or tartar. Once we’ve cleaned your entire mouth, we’ll floss between each of your teeth and polish them using a special gritty substance called prophylaxis paste.
Even if you’re diligent about brushing and flossing your teeth at home, it’s still vital to visit our office every six months for a checkup and cleaning. Our team is specially trained to spot oral health problems that you may not even notice. Plus, we have the equipment and tools necessary to diagnose and treat common oral health problems, preventing them from getting any worse.
At Summer Creek Dentistry, our team is experienced treating patients of all ages. This means that if you have a tight schedule, you can plan your entire family’s dental appointments at the same time. We’ll be more than happy to help accommodate your needs, just be sure to ask one of our friendly team members when you call us to schedule your appointment!
